Irvine Harvey - Clinical Counsellor

My Background

I’m Irvine G. Harvey (he/him/his), a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Certified Canadian Counsellor based on the beautiful Vancouver Island in Sidney, BC. I share my home with my husband Daniel, our beloved former Great Dane Luna, and our adorable feline companions Quincy & Cleo. My educational background includes a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Adler University in Vancouver, BC, a Certificate in Community Counselling from Vancouver Community College, and a Degree in Physical Therapy from Angeles University in the Philippines. I am proud to be a member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and American Board of Sexologist (ABS).

In my practice, I am a recognized service provider for the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) Mental Health Benefits Program, ICBC, the Mental Health Services of Metis Nation British Columbia (MNBC), and the Crime Victims Assistance Program under the Ministry of Public Safety. Additionally, I hold certifications as a DBT Practitioner, an ADHD Certified Clinical Service Provider, ABS Board Certified Diplomate and Certified Sexologist.

Throughout my journey, I have dedicated myself to supporting individuals facing various challenges in their wellness journey, such as addictions, mood disorders, C/PTSD, sex/gender and sexuality, personality disorders, ADHD, suicidality and a range of other mental health concerns.

I specialize in assisting survivors of sexual abuse, individuals coping with grief and loss, and those processing traumatic experiences. I am trained to work with individuals or couples having sex and sexuality challenges. My practice is inclusive and welcoming to diverse communities, including men’s health, the LGBTQQIAAP community, new immigrants, refugees, as well as couples and families navigating relationship difficulties.

My therapeutic approach integrates modalities such as Addiction Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed Practice, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Depth Psychology, ACT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Sexological Body Work, Internal Family Systems, Couples Counselling, and Youth Counselling. I firmly believe in empowering you, the client, to steer your own therapeutic journey, emphasizing our relationship, trust, openness, and honest communication.

Life presents us with challenges, but gaining a fresh perspective and support can make a world of difference.

Whenever you’re ready, I am here to walk alongside you on your path to healing and growth.
