Shweta Pal - Clinical Counsellor
Making meaning of our experiences can be challenging when we are faced with conflicting stories from our external environment and internal dialogue. The confusion can evoke many trauma-responses (search-for-safety-response) as our nervous system tries to self-soothe from what it believes to be safe. I provide space where we can make sense of these experiences together, while offering various evidence-based strategies to bridge that mind-body connection so my clients can build a better relationship with themselves and others.
My approach integrates evidence-informed modalities including DBT, CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, Internal-family systems, and Narrative Therapy. I am currently pursuing advanced certification in C-PTSD and Dissociative Disorders. I have had several trainings in play therapy that allows me to view the adolescent and adult conditions through a developmental lens.
I have worked in the mental health field for 7+ years in non-profit, school-based, and community settings, which has broadened my understanding of systemic barriers to mental health support.
