Christopher Simons
I support adults of all ages, genders, cultures, and affection orientations who are ready to make changes in their life, even if we don’t yet know what those changes might be. Whether you have been on your healing journey for years or have just begun sorting it all out, our counselling conversations will assist in identifying the barriers to improved well-being. We’ll honour the wisdom of your survival strategies and fine-tune what works and what no longer serves. I’ll journey with you on this path for as long as you benefit from the sincere care and gentle curiosity that I offer.
I take an integrated approach that borrows from several counselling modalities to best serve you and your unique set of circumstances and needs. In addition to a master’s degree in counselling, I have training in somatic work and attachment-based practice for trauma resulting from abuse. In addition, I have training and applied practice in narrative therapy, solution-focussed therapy, motivational interviewing, and cognitive-based mindfulness therapy. This training does not dictate the way I work but it is available if our conversations reveal that one of these approaches could be beneficial for you.
I completed my practicum at the Men’s Therapy Centre (2022 to 2023) and am honoured to continue at the Centre as a counsellor. As an uninvited settler on the unceded, occupied lands of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, I’m always open to discovering new constructive ways of being here.
